Hi
I have an MX5 Mk1 which I am planning to fit a Brantz 2 International , its never been used but is about 10 years old . All seems to work ok but I need a gearbox sensor , can you advise which one as i have no idea what thread is on the gearbox or speedo .
many thanks
BR57 works on MX-5 MX4.
Hello, I am the organizer of the Mazda MX-5 Trophy in Austria. Some MX-5 MK1s run in the Trophy with Brantz devices. They use the Brantz M22 Gearbox Sensor (BR3) sensor. It is a little tight, but the installation works well. Only one car had difficulties because the space was too small. On MK2 you have to use a sensor on the cardan shaft. One guy of our group has built this. On MK3 I use the Brantz CANBUS Interface - Plug & Go (A-B) (BR57) without any troubles since years. On MK4 I will test this Canbus Interface later this year. Have fun with your MX-5! Gerhard
Hi,
Thank you for your enquiry. If you would like to know the exact age of your unit there is likely a serial number on the back from which we would be able to identify the year of manufacture...looking at the photo i would suspect this unit is approximately 20yrs old.
Regardless of its age however, it will still work with the majority of our current sensors. If it is a Gearbox Sensor you are after, the most likely sensor to fit your MX5 Mk1 would be our Japanese Gearbox Sensor (BR3), however we would not be able to say for certain it would fit, parts on vehicles are often changed and manufacturers altered fittings within models. You would be best measuring the thread coming off your gearbox to make sure it is 18mm (M18) and there is a square pin drive.
If you have any further questions please do not hesitate to get in touch via email sales@brantz.co.uk
Kind regards,
